Today, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the GDSC WoW held at MIT WPU Pune. For those who may not be familiar with GDSC Wow, well, well, well! It's an annual event organized by various GDSC chapters, offering tech talks, seminars, and ample networking opportunities with like-minded individuals and industry speakers. This year, it was held on April 6th. As this is my very first blog post, I'm truly excited to share my experiences and the valuable lessons I learned during the event.
Upon arrival at the venue, we were given two bands as access to the event as the volunteers verified our passes
(we managed to snag a super early bird pass a month before the event, hehe, considering how quickly they sell out upon release!)
The event started with high energy and excitement as the first speaker, Vrijraj Singh, took the stage. He shared beginner-friendly perspectives on Web Development and AI Studio, highlighting the latest trends in the field.
Next , Amey Nerkar delved into innovative payment solutions with a focus on the 6Ps, Reverse Penny Drop, and Tokenization (Device and Card on File), providing valuable insights for attendees.
Following Amey Nerkar session, Ganesh Divekar discussed Future Trends in Mobile Development, the Problems with Existing Cross-platform Development, and the Solution: Kotlin Multiplatform (MP), offering valuable insights for mobile app developers.
Continuing the lineup, Vishal Virani the CEO of DhiWise explained the history of prompting and the impact of ReAct prompting
Following Vishal sir's talk, we participated in a fun and engaging quiz that tested our knowledge of various tech topics. This activity was too challenging as it involved reading the questions and selecting the right option very quickly to top the leaderboard.
After Lunch ,Faizan Akhtar gave insights about how AR + VR = MR and introduced us to basic but beautiful JavaScript libraries using a demo and ended the talk with Puneri goodbyes
Sachin sharma the CEO of Townscript, delivered what was probably my favorite talk of the event. He discussed the concept of "black swans" or outlier events from the book by Nassim Taleb, highlighting how a single random event can potentially change our lives forever.
Next was the panel discussion on breaking down DevOps by Shubham Londhe Asit Sonawane and Udayendu Kar which cleared all my doubts about DevOps infrastructure.
Akshay Kumar explored state management in Flutter, essential for maintaining agility and cohesion in app development.
Nikita Desale explained what DevOps is and how DevOps + duet ai(Gemini)is being used in the industry.
Sweta Dargad taught how OSINT is not equal to stalking lol and gave insights about cybersecurity, which was a topic I was particularly excited about.
Lastly, Amol Nitave's discussion on "Tech for Social Entrepreneurship" left a profound impact on me. His words inspired me to maintain a positive outlook during challenging times and encouraged me to give my utmost effort to fulfill my purpose.
The event concluded with the distribution of some cool swag, which was a delightful way to wrap up a day of learning and networking.
Conclusion:
GDSC WOW was a truly WOW event I had the chance to learn from 14 different industry speakers, soaking in their perspectives and experiences. Plus, I got to meet and connect with so many diverse individuals, which was awesome. Surely, it was a long day – we're talking a solid 7 hours of listening and learning – but it was totally worth it. It taught me patience, you know? Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone into tech. If you ever get the chance, don't miss out on events like these!
